Welcome to the platform! This guide walks you through the essentials of getting started — and helps you create your first inventory item.

Step 1 – Select emission factor database

If you haven’t already, go to Settings → Data, then select one of the databases using the toggle.

Standard databases that are included are:

• UK DEFRA CO2-eq → UK’s and globally the most used activity-based dataset.
• US EPA CO2-eq → Activity-based dataset from the USA EPA.
• US EEIO spend-based → Spend-based emission dataset from the USA.
• Nederlandse CO2-emissiefactoren → Dutch activity-based emissions factors.
• RIVM-milieubelasting voedingsmiddelen → Dutch emissions set for food-based emissions.

Everything is available in the premium version due to End-User License Agreements (EULAs) for commercial datasets.

Step 2 – Set your standard reporting settings

Every organisation’s reporting year and interval are different. When building your inventory, you want to install a reporting period per inventory item. With this:

• You can input data over the relevant period (e.g. Jan-Jan for your electricity bill, and capital goods over a financial year period)
• Appropriate intervals per inventory item (e.g. gas bills with a monthly interval, procurement data with an annual interval corresponding with your financial year).

In settings, you can set up a default reporting year for your inventory items. When creating an inventory item, you can always change these per item.
